About Arup

At Arup we are dedicated to sustainable development: we do socially useful work that has meaning, improves lives and shapes a better world. Our extraordinary collective provides expertise across all areas of the built environment from strategic approach and planning to design and engineering.

We are owned in trust by our members, a structure that allows us freedom to set our own direction and opportunities – independently. We choose work that aligns with our values, working with clients on ambitious projects that will set new standards.

We don’t believe in the idea of ‘no, it can’t be done’. If there’s a way to do it, we’ll find it. If there isn’t a way, we’ll invent it. This attitude has made us not only market leaders but thought leaders in sustainable development.

Different people, shared values

Arup is an equal opportunity employer that actively promotes and nurtures a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of age (within legal limits), gender identity or expression, marital status, disability, neurotype or mental health, race or ethnicity, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave. We are an open environment that embraces diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas – this drives our excellence.

Guided by our values and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we create and contribute to equitable spaces and systems, while cultivating a sense of belonging for all.

Designing an inclusive world

We want to see a built environment that works for everyone. This means understanding the needs of today’s population, and tomorrow’s. For us, inclusive design means ensuring everyone can use and enjoy a building, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender and family status.

Working towards a truly diverse workforce

We aspire to be – and work hard to be – an organisation which recruits, retains and develops a truly diverse workforce reflective of the communities we serve and the kind of place where people are proud to work.

Connect groups at Arup

Here at Arup, our Employee Resoure Groups are called Connect Networks. They are run by Arup members for Arup members. Through collective effort, our Connect Networks work together with the firm's support to shape a better Arup for everyone. These include:

Connect Out
Connect Out is Arup’s lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer and related communities (LGBTQ+) network advocating for a work environment that respects, welcomes and supports LGBTQ+ professionals.

Connect Women

Connect Women encourages and improves opportunities for women in Arup. The network aims to ensure women want to work, develop and stay with the organisation.

Connect RACE

Connect RACE is focused on improving the participation of ethnically diverse Arup members in decision-making, providing insights through shared experiences and increasing visibility of role models.

Connect Ability

Connect Ability provides a forum for sharing experiences and educating each other, to improve working at Arup for all members with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions.

Connect Cultures
Connect Cultures is the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity network, which aims to educate and foster an inclusive environment that respects our cultural differences and values.
